product description
March / März Hoof Nails
The March or März hoof nails, as they are also being called, are an affordable alternative to more well-known brands.
We carry the E and ESL variants of March / März horseshoe nails in our assortment.
The March / März nails are suitable for shoeing with conventional horseshoes as well as with our composite horseshoes.
The Difference Between E and ESL Hoof Nails
Both variants have an E nail head, which, due to its shape, is very well suited for use with our composite horseshoes. The difference between the two versions lies in their shank. The ESL, i.e., the Slim version, has a slimmer shank. When using a Slim hoof nail, less horn material is displaced. Therefore, the risk of chips and cracks in the wall horn around the nail holes is lower when using a Slim nail. However, as with everything in life, there is a downside: A hoof nail with a slimmer shank is less stable and can bend more easily.
Properties of March / März Hoof Nails in Our Assortment
The choice of the right hoof nail depends on many factors, including the size of the horseshoe, as well as the quality of the hoof wall and the stress that will be exerted on the horseshoe due to the planned use of the horse. For instance, in show jumping, this connection is subjected to more strain compared to a leisurely ride.
