Clean Threads for Quick Stud Changes
Our practical thread cleaner bits are specifically designed for a smooth stud change with our special models Jumper and Traction . They are also useful for regular composite horseshoes with threads in the synthetic material, for example, when replacing the blind stud with the anti-slip stud at the onset of winter.
The use of the thread hole cleaners is remarkably simple. If you want to insert a stud into a thread that is closed with a plug , you must first remove the blind stud.
- If you have used a metal thread plug to protect the stud hole, you may need to clean the hexagon socket of the thread plug first. A masonry drill bit is suitable for this. Then you can unscrew the thread plug from the thread using the appropriate hexagon socket bit.
- If you use a plastic closure plug, remove it with a pointed object.
Even if the stud hole was closed with a plug—whether metal or plastic—it can be contaminated. If this is the case, you can then clean the thread with the thread hole cleaner.
Available Sizes and Further Information
Our thread cleaner bits are available for M8 , M10, M12, and M14 threads. Further details on the use of thread cleaners during stud changes and the use of studs in general can be found in the respective articles in our online shop.
