glue-u MESH
The glue-u Mesh material is an excellent choice for sealing the hoof sole when combined with a urethane pour-in material, such as SHUPACK by glue-u. It can be used effectively with both steel and composite horseshoes.
This mesh, paired with a urethane padding material, offers two primary functions. Firstly, it helps distribute the forces acting on the hoof more evenly. Secondly, when applied correctly, it can enhance shock absorption upon impact. glue-u recommends slightly doming the mesh concavely before applying the padding for optimal effect.
General Application and Safety Guidelines
When using glue-u MESH with our products, please follow our safety information. A horseshoe with padding material should only be performed by qualified professionals, such as trained farriers, hoof care specialists, or veterinarians familiar with the product.
Working with MESH
Trim the MESH to fit the shape of the horseshoe. Generally, it is not necessary to secure the mesh within the hoof shoe. In most cases, you can nail or glue the shoe directly with the mesh insert in place. If you use our composites with the MESH we reommend to cut-off the debris guard.
If you plan to use a urethane pad, remember to create a slight concave shape in the mesh before filling to enhance shock absorption. Wrap the shoe, for example, with stretch film, as the material is very fluid.
A combination with a kneadable pad, such as SHUDIM, is also possible. In this case, press the kneadable pad into the desired area before nailing or gluing the shoe.
If applying an glue-on horseshoe, ensure that the padding material does not extend toward the bonding surface, as this could negatively impact the stability of the adhesive connection.
Attention: Do not use the mesh for a silicone pad material. In this case, a solid pad or a completely closed sole area is required.
