glue-u SHUFIX — Fast-Curing PU Adhesive for Professional Hoof Repair
SHUFIX by Glue-U is an ultra-fast curing two-component -PU adhesive. The product was specifically developed for precise corrective and hoof repair work and, thanks to its very short curing time, enables a secure, stable bond in the shortest possible time.
The adhesive is used, among other applications, for hoof extensions and corrections in foals, such as modeling an artificial toe in cases of club feet, as well as for medial and lateral hoof corrections. SHUFIX can also be used for minor hoof wall repairs, filling hoof cracks, and rebuilding damaged areas of the hoof wall .
Working with SHUFIX
First, attach the appropriate mixing nozzle to the cartridge and make sure it is correctly and securely screwed on. Before starting your work on the hoof, it is recommended to dispense a small amount of SHUFIX from the cartridge to ensure even mixing of the two components.
Hoof preparation
For reliable adhesion, the hoof should be carefully prepared before applying SHUFIX. The surface to which SHUFIX is applied must be clean, free of grease, and especially dry.
Applying SHUFIX
When applying SHUFIX, make sure that the tip of the mixing nozzle remains within the adhesive mass throughout the entire process. If the mixing nozzle is pulled out of the material and adhesive is then applied again on top, air pockets may form, which can negatively affect durability and stabilityof the material.
Battery-Powered Cartridge Guns
For larger repair jobs or for regular use of SHUFIX, Glue-U recommends using a battery-powered cartridge gun. In the official "Tips & Tricks" video, Peter Loots clearly explains the advantages of the battery-powered version over the manual option and demonstrates how it enables smooth, controlled application and optimal working results.
Curing Time and Further Processing
After application, SHUFIX cures—depending on environmental conditions—within approximately 30 to 60 seconds. After just a few minutes, the repaired hoof can be further processed.
The degree of curing can be easily checked by gently pressing the material with a fingertip. If it is still very soft and flexible, further processing should be delayed for a short time.
Once the material has fully cured, the area can be finished with a rasp. Depending on requirements, the Hoof Buffer can also be used to achieve a perfect finish.
