BlueStuff by HOOFGOLD – Intensive Frog Care for Healthy and Resilient Hooves
Healthy hooves are essential for a horse’s mobility, performance, and overall well-being. The frog , in particular, plays an important role: it supports natural shock absorption and contributes to healthy blood circulation within the hoof.
When this sensitive tissue is affected by bacteria or fungi, serious problems can develop quickly. Without timely treatment, hoof horn deterioration, pain, and long-term damage to the hoof structure may occur.
Wet conditions, mud, poor hygiene, or deep frog sulci create ideal conditions for the growth of harmful microorganisms. This makes consistent hoof care all the more important, helping to identify problems early and protect the hoof over the long term. With BlueStuff by HOOFGOLD, horse owners and hoof care professionals have access to a specially developed solution for the care of sensitive and stressed areas of the hoof.
BlueStuff by HOOFGOLD can be used specifically to care for stressed hoof areas. The unique formulation of HOOFGOLD BlueStuff supports hoof health both in cases of existing frog-related problems and as part of a regular preventive hoof care routine. It may also help promote the hoof's natural regenerative processes.
Benefits of HOOFGOLD BlueStuff at a Glance
BlueStuff for Frog-Related Hoof Problems
BlueStuff by HOOFGOLD was developed to provide targeted support for heavily stressed hoof areas affected by tissue deterioration. Its special formulation penetrates deep frog sulci and hard-to-reach cavities where bacteria and fungi commonly thrive. By acting directly at the source of the problem, it helps restore affected areas of the hoof to a healthy balance.
While unwanted microorganisms are effectively controlled, healthy hoof horn remains protected. This creates optimal conditions for the frog's natural regeneration and the development of strong, resilient hoof horn. Thanks to its intensive deep-penetrating action, BlueStuff is particularly suitable for hooves where surface-level care products are often unable to reach affected areas effectively.
Thrush
Thrush is one of the most common hoof problems in horses. When treating thrush, HOOFGOLD BlueStuff can
be applied directly to the affected areas.
Typical signs include:
- foul odor
- black, decaying discharge
- soft or deteriorating frog horn
- deep, contaminated frog sulci
Hoof Tissue Deterioration
During tissue deterioration processes, bacteria and other microorganisms can colonize deep cracks, fissures, and cavities. HOOFGOLD BlueStuff reaches even difficult-to-access areas and supports the care of affected hoof structures. At the same time, it helps protect healthy hoof horn and promotes a balanced hoof environment.
Canker – Supportive Care in Cooperation with a Veterinarian or Hoof Care Professional
Canker is a serious hoof disease that should always be evaluated by a veterinarian. As part of a comprehensive treatment plan, BlueStuff may be used as supportive care to improve hygiene in the affected area and help reduce the presence of harmful microorganisms. Application should always be carried out in consultation with a veterinarian and hoof care professional.
White Line Disease – Supportive Care
White Line Disease causes changes within the white line area, which can lead to cavities and separation within the hoof horn. These areas provide favorable conditions for microorganisms to colonize and multiply. HOOFGOLD BlueStuff reaches difficult-to-access zones and can support the hygienic care of affected hoof areas. In advanced cases, treatment should always be coordinated closely with a veterinarian or qualified hoof care professional, as additional therapeutic measures are often required.
How to Use HOOFGOLD BlueStuff
BlueStuff by HOOFGOLD was developed to support the care and regeneration of stressed hoof areas. However, in cases of serious hoof diseases such as advanced thrush, White Line Disease, canker, lameness, or severe hoof horn damage, veterinary examination and supervision by a qualified hoof care specialist are always recommended. Accurate diagnosis and professional treatment form the basis for successful recovery.

- After symptoms have subsided: Apply several times per week for stabilization and prevention.

BlueStuff and Glue-On Shoes
We would like to offer some general advice regarding the use of hoof care products in combination with glue-on hoof protection systems.
Under normal circumstances, the ingredients in BlueStuff should not affect an existing adhesive bond, provided the glue-on shoe has been applied correctly and the individual adhesive tabs have been properly sealed to the hoof using a suitable adhesive. Nevertheless, we recommend avoiding direct contact between the hoof care product and the adhesive bonding surface whenever possible.
As a general rule, caution should be exercised when using hoof care products in conjunction with glue-on shoes, particularly before application. If you are using an oil-based hoof care product, depending on hoof growth and environmental conditions, it may even be advisable to stop active treatment two weeks before the scheduled shoeing appointment. Naturally, much depends on the specific hoof care product being used. Since BlueStuff generally does not come into contact with the future bonding surface of the hoof, the risk is considerably lower than with products that are applied directly to the hoof wall.
