product description

Liberty Horseshoe Nails – Focused on Durability, Reliability, and the Health of Both Hoof and Farrier

Liberty horseshoe nails have firmly established themselves in the market since their launch. Liberty combines the knowledge of four generations with innovative thinking and the hands-on expertise of experienced farriers – the result is nails that sustainably promote the horse's hoof health while noticeably easing the farrier's work. According to the manufacturer, every new Liberty nail is developed with a focus on the nail's role within the entire horseshoeing process. It's no surprise that Liberty nails are also a favorite among our customers.

Benefits of Liberty Horseshoe Nails for the Farrier

  • Liberty nails stand out with consistent quality. Liberty claims that if you buy 250 nails, you can actually use all 250.
  • The horseshoe nails are packaged in a sturdy box made of recycled plastic .
  • Fewer hammer strikes are typically needed during nailing, and clinching is easier with these nails.
  • The durable steel core lasts around 8 to 10 weeks.

Benefits of Liberty Horseshoe Nails for the Horse's Hoof

According to Liberty, these nails cause less damage to the hoof. Thanks to an extra-smooth finish, an ultra-sharp nail tip, and beveled edges, they help reduce damage to the hoof wall trauma and minimize chipping on the outer wall.

Slim Nails

Another advantage for the horse’s hoof is the use of the Slim version: The longer, narrower shank reduces pressure on the hoof wall and allows for precise nailing without compromising the hoof's structure. Slim variants also allow for higher nailing .

Innovative Technologies for the Perfect Horseshoe Nail

Whether it's the CU Shield Technology or the Hard Top Technology – Liberty stands for innovative, uncompromising horseshoe nails. Many farriers also appreciate the newly developed Liberty Hybrid nails, as they can reportedly replace more than 30 different types of horseshoe nails with just six variants. However, not all Liberty nails are suitable for our composite horseshoes . We have therefore limited our selection to those Liberty nail types that are best suited for the nailing slots in our horseshoes. If you've had good experiences with other Liberty nails, please let us know. We always welcome feedback that helps us further improve our product range.

The Unique Liberty CU Shield Technology

An ultra-thin, precisely applied copper coating protects the nail without compromising the renowned Liberty nail quality. CU Shield Technology is a unique, patented coating process. As the only manufacturer using this high-tech coating, Liberty sets new standards in research, technology, and quality.

What makes Liberty's copper coating special are its custom-developed conversion and protective layers. The conversion layer ensures optimal adhesion of the copper coating to the steel nail; the outer protective layer only wears off once the nail is driven into the hoof. This allows the copper to remain firmly bonded to the nail and activate only within the hoof – ensuring long-lasting performance and exceptional durability.

Thanks to CU Shield Technology, Liberty copper nails provide reliable all-around protection. The copper coating remains effective throughout the entire shoeing cycle, preventing rust and wear inside the hoof. The durable steel core of CU Shield nails lasts 8 to 10 weeks, while the clean nail holes supported by the copper coating help prevent infections or hoof deterioration. In many cases, improved hoof and horn quality can be observed.

The Combo nail is a tip from our partner in Canada, Caro Lukas, who likes to use it with our regular models as well as the HDS models. No matter which horseshoes from our range you choose to use with Liberty horseshoe nails: please read and follow our Safety Instructions. In the section FAQ → Safety, we’ve compiled all relevant information about necessary safety precautions when working with various tools and horseshoeing products.

You can find more details on nailed hoof protection and a step-by-step shoeing guide in the section Knowledge → Instructions.

Nail Waste – Keeping the Shoeing Area Clean

Always collect all used horseshoe nails and nail scraps. A magnet attached to your clinching tool, for example, helps maintain safety and cleanliness in the stable, as loose metal parts and nail remnants can cause injury or damage.

Health Risks of Copper-Coated Nails

When working with copper-coated nails, be sure never to put them in your mouth.
