MEGA FOAM — Foam Cleaner for Degreasing Hooves and Horseshoes before Gluing

If a horseshoe is to be attached to the hoof with superglue, the hoof should be as clean and grease-free as possible. We have looked for a good solution for this purpose, because in our opinion the brake cleaner that many people like to use is not very suitable when it comes to degreasing the hoof before gluing. This is especially true if you want to use the Wolf Busch® glue-on tabs. The reason for this is that both acetone-containing and acetone-free brake cleaners reduce the tear resistance of the colored elastomer on the glue-on tabs; the extent of the damage naturally depends on the duration and intensity of the exposure.

To be on the safe side, we therefore recommend using a foam cleaner such as MEGA FOAM from Tech-Masters®.

MEGA FOAM is a degreasing foam cleaner which, with its formula and ease of use, offers an effective solution for various cleaning needs — including farriery.

MEGA FOAM contains no abrasive cleaners , has a pleasant smell and is even suitable for the food industry. The advantages for us when we use MEGA FOAM to clean and degrease the horse's hoof include the fact that it dries very quickly and also adheres to vertical surface — such as the hoof wall — without running off.

To degrease the hoof, we recommend spraying it with MEGA FOAM and allowing the foam cleaner to take effect briefly before starting the adhesive work.

The adhesive shoe itself should also be thoroughly cleaned and degreased with the foam cleaner before you start gluing it to the hoof.

Instructions for Application and Safety when Degreasing with MEGA FOAM

Ensure good ventilation when working with MEGA FOAM and avoid inhaling the aerosols . Please note that MEGA FOAM is an extremely flammable aerosol. Do not spray against an open flame or other ignition source. Further details can be found in the safety data sheet of the manufacturer Tech-Masters®.

Degreasing the Horse's Hooves with MEGA FOAM

The use of MEGA FOAM as a degreaser for the hoof is very simple.

Shake the bottle well to activate the foam cleaner.
Apply the degreaser generously to the surface to be cleaned on the hoof or horse shoe.
The foam adheres optimally and therefore also allows a longer contact time. We recommend that you let the foam cleaner work for a short time.
Once the degreaser has done its job, wipe the foam thoroughly off the hoof or adhesive shoe with a lint-free cloth. Then wait a short time until the hoof or horseshoe is completely dry before starting the gluing process.
