product description
The Hoof Buffer / Hoof Buffy
When it comes to bare hoof trimming and the right finish, most people think of the hoof rasp. However, we are noticing that more and more customers are also moving towards "automation" in this area in order to make life easier for hoof trimmers and, not least, to protect their joints. One product that is very popular in this area within our range is the PFERD fiber disc and Combi-Click system.
Another trend that is becoming increasingly popular in the preparation for adhesive shoeing is the Hoof Buffer.
The Hoof Buffer in Detail
The Hoof Buffer can be used with a standard cordless screwdriver.
Suitable sanding belts with different grit sizes are available for the Hoof Buffer.
Many hoof trimmers like to use the Hoof Buffer for the final work before gluing.
Application and Safety Instructions — Video
Please observe our safety instructions when working with our products. Please also observe the safety instructions of the manufacturer of your cordless screwdriver and the usual measures when working with electrically powered abrasive belts.
Scope of Delivery
- Hoof Buffer attachment including a 80 grit sandpaper
- associated valve stem and valve key
Working with the Hoof Buffer
Insert the drive shaft of the Hoof Buffer into the drill chuck of your cordless screwdriver and hold the Hoof Buffer by the aluminum handle with your other hand.
Pay attention to the correct direction of rotation of the Hoof Buffer. Depending on the direction in which it rotates, the dirt is transported back onto the hoof or onto the ground.
If the sanding belt slips during sanding work, check the pressure of the rubber ring. Air may be escaping through the valve or the rubber ring of the Hoof Buffer may be damaged.
The rotation gives the hooves a beautiful shine. But the Hoof Buffer is not just about beauty — especially if you want to apply adhesive shoes afterwards, the Hoof Buffer will give you an ideally prepared hoof wall for gluing the glue-on tabs to the hoof. We generally recommend using 60 or 80 grit sandpaper for gluing.
Changing the Sanding Belt
The sanding belt can be changed quickly with a little manual dexterity.
- If the sanding belt is to be changed, first let some air out of the rubber ring and remove the old sanding belt.
- Place the new sanding belt on the inflatable rubber ring and tighten it using an air pump so that the sanding belt can no longer slip.
- It is generally not recommended to inflate the rubber ring with a compressor.
Both a compatible air pump and matching sanding belts are available in our store.
