"Faster Bonding" with the glue-u PRE FIX Activator
The PRE FIX system, consisting of the Activator and CA Glue, was developed by glue-u to help farriers secure the GluShu to the hoof more easily. This allows the GluShu to be quickly positioned before carrying out the actual gluing process at a steady pace.
The PRE FIX CA Glue is applied to the GluShu, while the PRE FIX Activator is sprayed onto the adhesive surface of the hoof. As soon as both components come into contact, the GluShu is instantly pre-fixed. The adhesive is then applied to the GluShu’s tabs as usual.
As with many products, it is often users who discover additional applications. We received a tip from Sandy Frank, who likes to 'repurpose' the activator when bonding needs to be done quickly.
Sandy got this tip from a farrier colleague who also had great results with it. That’s why we’d like to share it with you here.
PRE FIX Activator for Lower Temperatures in Winter
We offer various adhesives that perform better or worse depending on the temperature. However, especially in winter, the setting time can sometimes be too long.
This is why Sandy Frank likes to use the glue-u PRE FIX Activator. Even with the Blitzschnell, our ultra-fast instant adhesive that usually sets in no time, the activator can be a great help when temperatures drop in winter.

The activator can be helpful year-round, especially for restless horses or those that struggle to stand still for a long time due to health issues.

Ingredients
The Pre Fix Activator contains:
- Hydrocarbons, C6-C7, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, less than 5% n-hexane
- Hydrocarbons, C6, isoalkanes, less than 5% n-hexane
Bonding with the PRE FIX Activator and Our Instant Adhesives
When using the activator for faster bonding, you can follow the same gluing process as without it. However, when working with the activator, there is one additional step in the gluing process. After applying the adhesive to the tab, spray a small amount of PRE FIX Activator onto the specific area of the hoof where the tab will be attached. Be careful not to spray the entire hoof—only the section where adhesion is needed. Once the activator is applied, press the tab firmly onto the hoof.
As you press the tab onto the hoof, the adhesive reacts with the activator, accelerating the bonding process. Usually, a white edge appears around the tab, indicating the reaction. Repeat the process for each tab individually, following the same steps as before.
Afterward, seal the tabs as usual with a small amount of adhesive and continue following our general gluing instructions.
