Glue-U SHUBOND Acrylic Glue for Maximum Bonding
The acrylic glue from Glue-U can be used to bond all kind of horseshoes. According to Glue-U, SHUBOND can be used for anything from the smallest crack to larger repairs. However, when it comes to hoof wall restoration, it's important to note that SHUBOND has a relatively long curing time, which is why many prefer SHUFIX for this purpose.
SHUBOND Beige vs. Black
You might think the only difference is the color. However, the two SHUBOND variants also differ in curing time. With SHUBOND Black, you’ll need to wait between 4 and 6 minutes; for SHUBOND Beige (Fast Set), it's only 2 to 3 minutes. For both versions, the curing time can be shortened by warming the acrylic glue.

Health Risks and Precautions
Harmful if swallowed. Causes serious eye irritation . Depending on the component, causes skin irritation up to severe skin burns and serious eye damage. Shubond contains epoxy-based compounds. May cause allergic skin reactions . May cause respiratory irritation . Avoid breathing vapors. Wash thoroughly after handling. Contains epoxy-containing compounds. May cause allergic reactions. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources. Do not smoke.

Personal Protective Equipment
Due to these health risks, Glue-U recommends wearing personal protective equipment such as protective gloves, eye protection, protective clothing, respiratory protection, and protective footwear. This applies to both components of SHUBOND.
First Aid Measures
Component A
- IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water.
- IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
Component B
- IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.
- IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water or shower.
- IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
- IN CASE OF FIRE: Use foam extinguisher (AB), dry chemical powder (ABC), or carbon dioxide fire extinguisher (BC) to extinguish.

Which Horseshoes Can Be Glued with SHUBOND?
Almost all horseshoes made of aluminum and steel, as well as many synthetic shoes.
How Hot Does SHUBOND Get During Curing, and How Can You Protect the Hoof Wall ?
A thick layer of SHUBOND can heat up to 75°C / 167°F during curing. For larger repairs where a thicker layer is needed, it can be helpful to apply a thin layer first and let it cure before adding another layer. This initial thin layer can help protect the hoof from the higher temperatures of the curing process when the thicker layer is applied.
How Should the Hoof Be Prepared?
Before working with SHUBOND, the hoof must be clean and dry. Be sure to remove any loose material and roughen the hoof wall, for example, with a wire brush. When rasping, use only the coarse side of the hoof rasp to ensure better bonding.
How Long Does SHUBOND Take to Set?
As mentioned above, there are two variants. On average, SHUBOND takes about 3.5 minutes to set at room temperature. The curing time can be shortened by warming the adhesive to body temperature. Especially in winter, using a heater can be helpful to properly warm the cartridge.
Can You Nail Through SHUBOND?
Yes. It is possible to nail through the cured layer, even afterward. However, Glue-U recommends nailing within one hour after applying SHUBOND.
